The Blues Train - Shake Rattle 'n' Roll

The Artists

Ben Mitchell
Playing pubs and parties in Melbourne since he was 17, in 2005 Ben returned from six years in London. Back in Melbourne, Ben has been playing gigs solo and with his band at venues including The Laundry, Cherry Bar, Soak Bar, The Vic, The Commercial Hotel in Yarraville and The Greyhound Hotel in St. Kilda.

Ben has been described as:
- a powerful performer with bags of stage presence and memorable songs
- fresh, energetic, fearless and varied
- a thoughtful songwriter with a gift for simple melodies, and powerful emotion
- a swamp rock version of Nick Cave, retro sounding and very refreshing.

His songwriting style has its roots in the blues and its heart in soul, though he is hardly a purist. He’s been compared to Ben Harper and Neil Finn. His first full-length CD, The Stars Can See, was released in 2005.
